Mark Speight, 42, was a children's television presenter who presented the CBBC art programme SMart. On January 3, 2008, his girlfriend Natasha Collins died of a drug overdose and Speight fell into a deep depression. On April 7, 2008, he hanged himself near Paddington Station. The inquest was held at Westminster Coroner's Court on May 20, 2008.
The coroner was Dr. Paul Knapman, who had also led the inquest into the death of Natasha Collins, and found that Speight had hanged himself with his own shoelaces. The preceding inquest happened mere days before Speight hanged himself.
Coroner's verdict: Suicide by hanging.
