Michael J. F. Sheffield (born 1930) was Her Majesty's Coroner for Teesside from 1969 to 2014.


Michael J. F. Sheffield was born in 1930 in Middlesbrough and after becoming the Coroner for Teesside presided over thousands of inquests in his 40-year career including the Enron power plant explosion in 2001.

Mr. Sheffield was often criticised for his long delays and met with calls to quit by fellow coroners and council workers. After he finally retired in 2014, Clare Bailey became acting coroner.
